Tontar told a new story (9 months ago)

Flying has caused me to always look up at the sky. It's amazing how many birds surround us every day, that we may not even see as we toil away the days. But when we fly, we get to fly side by side, over and under some of the most spectacular birds aro

Tontar liked Tontar's story Frostbite Festival 2011

Frostbite Festival is the season opener for the Dog Mountain flying site. This is only a very small slice of a moment in that three day event of flying, food, friends and fun. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks Check out the Bet That Guy video too. Its a lot more picturesque, with great scenery. And if you really want to do it, its really not that hard to jump in and go for it. I got into it when it was much more dangerous. Now, it is WAY better, safer, better instruction, better gear. Maneuvers like that used to be unheard of, but are relatively easy if thats where you want to apply yourself. You can do it

Why wait Come out and join us for a tandem flight, or look into getting a Falcon as your glider. They are WAY easier and safer to fly than a Mill.

Hah Thanks. Planes are cool too, but hanging out in the air and weight shifting is kind of like surfing as opposed to boating. And besides, working a thermal to gain altitude and being joined by a bald eagle or two, or an osprey theres little that can compare to that feeling. Unreal, and humbling. There are two baldies in that video, but they look small and far away because of the wide angle, and often they were just beyond the sight of the lens. But they were there and very cool

My advice is if you really want to do it, then go for it. Depending on where you live, instruction may be easy to find, or hard to find. Check out ushpa dot org and look for instructors in your area. Call them all. Its not always a fast process up front, but stick with it and you can do it for the rest of your life. And stay in touch, get advice continually from the old timersBesides, you only live once afaik, and its better to be able to look back on what we did than what we didnt do.

Great video. Wonderful flips, totally unconventional, shows great control and creativity. Why be so stiff and traditional, eh

Those that hang glide think that there is nothing better than flying and wonder why other people would not want to pursue it. Nicolas Cage gives a wonderful perspective of how he sees hang gliding, which is with the same wonder and awe that we pilots
