Thanks I used a collapsible fishing pole that I found on ebay for 6. That way I could keep the equipment in my jump suit until I was under canopy. I mounted the camera to the 2nd to last segment of the pole using small packing bands and then ran a lanyard up to the handle taping it to each section of the pole. Before I pulled the pole out of my suit I made sure to loop the lanyard around my wrist. That way if I fumbled it the gear wouldnt be lost. Are you referring to having a camera in the canopy I do have some experience mostly unsuccessful with that.

Ive pondered some away from the body mounts for freefall, but you are right, the safety factor is a big concern.

Positives Awesome transitions.Negatives Only short 10 sec video clips. Pay additional for hidef NOT HD. Pay additional to get rid of Animoto branding. Wishes Would like more control over transition choices to produce consistency between edits.Animoto can be used in conjunction with your favorite editing tool, but it can not replace it.

Yeah...my thoughts too. If potential customers are looking at this footage they might get some wrong perceptions.

Go for itWhy jump out of a perfectly good airplane Because I have a perfectly good parachute

Anything that is tethered would be a candidate for entanglement during canopy deployment. You have to assume that in an emergency situation you wouldnt be able to retrieve the camera. I think the aerodynamics to keep the camera steady and pointed in the right direction would be particularly difficult. Why jump out of a perfectly good airplane Because I have a perfectly good parachute

Hi...thanks No problems with the lens, or really any problems to speak of. Actually I have attached it to my helmet I have a short video on how I attached it, just click on my name to see all my videos with no problems at all...up to 160mph in a sit fly. The camera is so light that it really doesnt need anything beefy to hold it. I just put a couple of lanyards to my helmet in case I accidentially knocked the camera off.

Not during freefall...relative wind would play havoc with the mount. Maybe under canopy...

No, I didnt protect the mic but did drop the volume level about 5db in putting together the video. Otherwise it would just be too much wind noise.

Thats a bummer. Ive had the riser slap the camera loose from the velcro but never had the lanyard snap. What type of material are you using for a lanyard I use a braided nylon cord thats been tested to 200lbs. I also lost a camera, but that was due to my own fumbling...

I suppose that is possible but youll have to be pretty precise with the alignment. In addition the camera will have to be far enough forward so that not too much of the helmet is captured by the lens. In any case, youll want to have a lanyard that goes directly to the helmet. Regardless of how streamlined the camera is, there is always the possibility of the camera being whacked by a riser.

The lanyard is attached to the camera also...one to the mount and one to the camera.
