Ive had mine for a few weeks and it is great. I got too close to some rocks during the teat and need to polish out some light scratches so be carefull if you are using it at the end of a pole like I did. Tomorrow I am doing an underwater survey of my boat at dockside Check out my first video here httpwww.vimeo.com10642494

In this test video I tried to push the new ContourHD 1080P to as many bad things I could think of in a brief video. I was looking for a fast moving object, fast panning camera, changing light contrast, shooting into the sun, shooting in half sunhalf shade, jerky video, pixelated video, audio quality, difference between 1080P @ 30 fps and 720P @ 60 fps, edit quality, streaming and display on 1080i 72 HDTV, etc. It had its challenges and helped me to avoid limitations in future videos. The camera has exceeded my expectations....so far.

Hey, ProEdgeBiker, I checked out your web site. Outstanding I am on the diagonal edge of the country but hope to revisit your area in a few years for some warm winter biking, kayaking and motorcycling.

Ahhh. One part of my tests was to shoot into the sun to see how badly it washed out. That may be the hazy look you are referring to if it only occurred then. Your feedback is very helpful. If I were shooting a regular camera, I would have used a lens hood in that situation. Ill try to avoid sun shining directly on the Contour HD lens or shade it with my hand if possible. If the washout is not too bad, it can be easily accomodated in the edit software.

BTW, I wish I could select a better thumbnail that is not as dark but VholdR or Easy Edit doesnt have that option. It used to take the first frame which is a bummer if you use fade in. It is all black. One trick I have used is to put a single frame that I grabbed from the video as the first frame. Thanks for the comment.

Hmm. It doesnt look dark on my monitor Is the entire video dark or just parts The light meter got fooled at one point when going from very bright to very shady whcih is common. I bet if I selected spot metering that is center weighted that would not have happened. I noticed that the exposure latitude, the ability to see both bright and dark areas on the same frame, is much improved. Digital cameras are challenged in latitude and the new ContourHD 1080P does a good job in my initial tests. BTW, that is one of the things I was testing for as well as motion blurring and jerkiness. I am happy so far.

The Dirty Face Dual Sport Ride is an annual event held by the Lake Wenatchee Recreation Club. Riders of all skill levels come to enjoy the scenery and and pick from routes over sometimes badly eroded forest service roads and challenging single and two track trails. Ths year 2009 there were about 250 riders. The main route was about 80 miles long with an added loop of about 45 miles. It is mostly dirt with some pavement and even the easy route had some white knuckle spots for newbies. Chazbo

Chazbo liked Chazbo's story Winter Steelhead Fishing in Washington State

The VholdR was perfect on this very cold winter steelhead fishing trip. I was hoping to get videos of me fighting a steelhead using my headband mount, but that was not to be. It was even better getting action video of my son catching this nice fish. I
