Changing terrain as we went north, with an area of cactus giving away to no life at all. Deep dust and volcanic ash were obstacles. The wild horses are rare now.

"The Teacher" may seem a mild mannered, conservative fellow. But he rides his 450 like the wind. Riding these hills requires experience, stamina, and balls like church bells.

This video is awesome because... Only on the last few miles back can you confidently ride at a fast pace and side-by-side. New CRF 450 vs the old 525 (with old rider).

Prior to logging, too dusty to ride very close. Long video to document the trails.

A new knobby got me through the deep stuff, primarily volcanic ash. The trick is to roll off and on the throttle at low RPMs to get that little bit more traction needed. Mejia, Peru On the 525

Its geared down for wooded hills, so it is rather quick to raise the front end. Playing around for the camera. The sound lags the video by a few seconds.

Its a very steep, slippery hill and Jano just slides down like it is easy. The side I climb is ok, but we havent tried climbing the other side. I dont think it can be done...

Early saturday morning, leaving the house in Mollendo and heading towads Mejia to ride. I can get away with riding into crowds on the beach until late January, then it gets crowded by 830AM.

As the regular riding territory was bought up by the copper mining company, alternate places to ride are a bit scarier and harder to climb or descend. Sorry for all the talking, but it captures memories with friends.

This is drier terrain than to the South, with deeper sand and generally more volcanic ash. A tough hill.

After a long morning ride with the Moteros, we stopped for beers. After drinking my super energy drink I headed home, albeit a little fast for a beachtown.

Thought we had seen the hardest stuff on the trip from Mejia to Mollendo, forgot about this one.

The video messed up quickly, but I documented a decent wheelie.
