2bwise:
Sunday afternoon feature race for F500, FST, and FV. This weekend the Formula First Regional Championship visited Waterford Hills Road Course. I drove the #25 SR Racing Evolution. I started on the Formula First pole, but instead of the normal split grid we started slightly behind the F500s. This was the last race of the weekend and most of the Formula First crowd had significant travel ahead of them, and therefore were busying packing up their trailers. It looked as though I'd be the only First on track, but was able to talk Jason into coming out and having some fun. Another crap start from me had me drop from the lead to 2nd in the very first corner. The next ten laps were spent chasing Jason down only to make a mistake and have to do it all over again. The car had developed understeer in Turn 5, Big Bend, from the apex out. All weekend I had been quicker here, but suddenly lost my biggest advantage. Big Bend leads onto the longest straight of the track and the best passing opportunity into Turn 6. With this opportunity gone I had to try and find a way past elsewhere or force Jason into a mistake. There were no chances to get a wheel underneath and I couldn't quite force Jason into a mistake. I tried my hardest to catch him and get by but simply ran out of laps. A huge thanks to SR Racing for providing such a stellar car. They kept it running in peak condition and made it possible for me to have an absolute blast. If only this was possible every weekend.
