What was your favorite part?
trentrelic:
The best part of the run is knowing that i didn't hit any walls, didn't break any more bones, and looking up at the end of the run after lift my visor and look at my time. It was not a P.R. but overal my times are coming down. =)
What would you do differently next time?
trentrelic:
This week i am paranoid that i'm going to smash the left wall out of curve 11 and break another finger or knuckle, so i was over-steering. Next time i need to have more confidence in myself, relax, and steer less or make fewer corrections and just let go (let loose).
Did you have a good time?
trentrelic:
I had the best time today, so far the smoothest series of runs, hit few if any walls, and i can't believe this is a sport; its like riding a rollercoaster 3-5 times a day and calling it a sport. Of course it can be pretty brutal, but none of that today, nothing but smooth, clean, and awesome sledding. =)
Tell us something interesting that happened off-camera during this trip.
trentrelic:
Well something the Camera never sees is our warm up routine, sled prep, and pre-slide routine; depending on the person, this can take up to an hour before each day of sliding. We need to make sure our bodies are warmed up and nice and hot because it’s freezing outside. We have to make sure our sleds are aerodynamic, taped up, and out runners are polished smooth. And finally we need to make sure we are mentally prepared for each run of each day; we are going down head first at 80mph, we don’t have any time to think, just enough time to react by dropping a toe, steering with your head, shoulders, or knees (personal preference). When we are done with the run, you guys also don’t see us cleaning ourselves and our sleds free from snow and debris, loading our sleds into trucks, and riding all the way back up to the top to do it all over again. I get to slide 5 days a week for 2.5 hours, pre and post sliding session routine take just as long as the session itself. All in all, it makes for a very fun and very tiring day.
Do you have a GPS camera?? Seeing the speeds would be really cool. Asked by lacy
trentrelic:
No i don't, that would be so cool though; it would be something to consider getting though. How acurate are they do you know?
