SEATTLE TIME-LAPSE 5

Told by Dirkus 9 months ago.

Loading the player…

Tried the time-lapse feature, but could not get the pics to play as a video...just got a bunch of stills. Whats the recommended editing tool to properly play the time-lapse with? Asked by Gks1966

dirkus: Depending on what OS you are using, with OSX you can use iMovie, with Win XP/Vista/7 you can use Win Movie Maker. Adobe Elements also works well. I personally use MEncoder which is a Linux command line tool.

I love the clouds. Very cool, Dirk. Asked by lacy

dirkus: Thanks Lacy.

That is great. Am going to try this while riding the motorcycle. Asked by northernrebel

dirkus: I would recommend using 3fps for a motorcycle ride, look forward to seeing the film.

Using QuickTime pro 7, there's a feature that allows you to import a series of photo's and be converted to a video with your choice of fps.

Some really impressive videos! Gives me hopes for mine, took stills at P/3 of the drive up to Turoa Ski Field at Mt Ruapehu (NZ), about a 20 min drive. Yet to string them together to see what it looks like. When outputting the video did you play them back at 30fps or something a bit slower?

Sorry guys, I should have posted this originally, camera was set at P/5 for this one. Also at the beginning of the video, the frame "jumps" a bit, the ferry was cavitating heavily and caused this.

What rate did you use. 1 photo per 3 sec, 5 sec ??

Very cool. I am inspired. I have never used MEncoder for editing.

Nice edit, I like how the clowds get closer on the return trip. You did this in Ubuntu with a command line APP. Extra points for being a geek as well!

Alex, I use Ubuntu 11.04 and MEncoder, which is a Command/Terminal line APP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MEncoder
