John got luck this time. Mine didnt on my 1st camera, broke loose at about 10,000 ft. . Found on the tarmac a little bent, non functional, but lenses intact. These mounts arent built for full body contact while falling at 120mph. For my second camera I made my own mount with a cutaway system. BTW, the VHoldR folks were great about a significant discount on the replacement. My old one is on their wall of fame Blue Skies....

Guess the safety leash works....Always disliked the velcro mounts. They say theyre heavyduty, I know them to be weak and always add a little duct tape to prevent what happened to your buddy. VholdR mounts leave a lot to be desired....
