2BEING READY FOR THE SHOT/MOUNTS

Anyone can buy a new camera to point and shoot something, but those who already have knowledge and an idea of what they’re after are usually the ones who get the great shots.
This next section explains some ways you can use Contour mounts to get the best footage with no prior video experience!
PRIMARY MOUNTS
POLE MOUNT
WHY?
There’s nothing better than a up close and personal vid/pic of someone doing something cool that you wouldn’t normally get to see from that perspective. The pole mount allows you to get the camera nice and close to the rider without getting in their way.

GOGGLE MOUNT
HELMET MOUNT
WHY?
These mounts are all great ways to get the riders perspective. Chopping together an edit with a couple of these clips in-between your main shots captured with the pole mount will give it a much more interesting feel and break up any repetitive feel that it may have.

EXAMPLE
Try fixing either a helmet mount or profile mount to the side of your helmet. This will allow whoever is watching your edit to see what you see. The same thing goes for the goggle mount; it just depends on if you are able to fit it onto your goggles while wearing a helmet or not. Safety first if you’re on the slopes, though! Try this shot: start with the view from the rider’s perspective (goggle or helmet mount) coming into a jump, and then cut away as the trick finishes to the footage your buddy filmed of you with the pole. It’s always better to take a buddy up the mountain to help out. It’s fun to shoot and be shot. And why wouldn’t you want the end vid to be of you and your friends too!

OTHER TIPS
Attach the surfboard mount to the front or back of your board—or both! Fixing your camera to your board can capture a completely different perspective of the action and make for some great filler clips. Be sure to use the laser level once it’s attached to see your camera angle. This will eradicate any missed shots because the camera was pointing down at the snow or up at the sky instead of where you’re going.

3VIEWING YOUR MASTERPIECE/SOFTWARE

Once you have all your clips logged of you and your buddies, you’re gonna want to check them out, and it couldn’t be easier!

HOW?
Plug your camera into your computer using the same USB cord you charge it with. Once you’ve done this a window will pop up reading “Contour Roam3″ This is where you view your clips.

Once you’ve sifted through and picked out your best clips its time to have a go at editing. Any video editing software can be used to put together a great edit with footage taken by Contour, obviously the more complex the program the better your footage will come across due to effects, but the harder it may be to get the result. I have listed a few recommendations below that have worked great in the past
